Scope of This Policy

GoSwap.org is operated by Swap Inc, a Hawaii corporation ("GoSwap.org", "we", or "us"). Swap Inc is the controller of the personal information described in this policy. This Privacy Policy explains how GoSwap.org collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you visit the site, create an account, browse listings, communicate with other users, or use paid features on the platform.

By using the platform, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

Information We Collect

The information we collect depends on how you interact with the platform and which features you use.

• Account and profile details such as your name, email address, username, phone number (if provided), and login credentials.
• Third-party sign-in information that is made available to us when you authenticate through a provider such as Google or Apple.
• Listing, proposal, message, media, and profile content that you choose to submit through the platform, including star ratings and written reviews about other users.
• Payment, credit, and purchase status information related to paid features, excluding full payment card details handled directly by our payment processor (Stripe) or, for in-app purchases on our native mobile apps, the Apple App Store or Google Play.
• Content you submit to AI-assisted features, such as the AI Trade Advisor, automated listing description generation, price estimates, and similar tools, which is processed by a third-party AI provider (OpenAI) to generate a response.
• Closing-contact details (your legal name, email address, phone number, and mailing address) that you provide when a swap proposal proceeds to documents.
• Signature images you draw, type, or upload to sign a Letter of Intent, and the signed Letter of Intent PDFs we generate.
• For agent, dealer, and broker accounts: the name and, if you provide it, the email address of a client you represent; any license number and license state you enter; and the license verification status.
• Referral and attribution information, such as promo link identifiers and IP address, if you arrive through an affiliate or partner link or participate in our affiliate program.
• Device identifiers, IP address, and sign-in history used to secure accounts, enforce bans, and detect attempts to evade a suspension.
• For our native mobile apps, push notification device tokens and, if you choose to share it, approximate location used for map-based search or listing address entry.
• Technical and usage information such as IP address, browser type, device information, referral data, and how you interact with the site.

How We Use Information

• To create and manage user accounts and authenticate sign-ins.
• To publish listings, match users, and support proposals, messaging, and other marketplace functions.
• To process purchases, credits, promotions, and related service requests.
• To generate AI-assisted content, such as explanations of the numbers and terms in a swap proposal, listing descriptions, and price estimates.
• To generate Letters of Intent and other swap documents, and to share closing-contact details, signature images, and signed documents with the other party to the swap.
• To record which client an agent, dealer, or broker represents, and to verify license numbers that partners submit.
• To screen messages, listings, swap proposals, and reviews for safety, fraud, and policy violations, using automated systems that include OpenAI.
• To publish swap stories under the opt-in rules described below.
• To measure the results of our advertising on Meta (Facebook and Instagram).
• To display user-submitted ratings and reviews after a swap is completed.
• To track referrals, clicks, and sign-ups for our affiliate program and calculate affiliate payouts.
• To respond to inquiries, send service updates, and provide customer support.
• To review reports submitted about other users, listings, or messages, and to enforce blocking, restriction, and ban decisions.
• To monitor security, prevent abuse, enforce site rules, and comply with legal obligations.
• To improve site performance, product features, and the overall marketplace experience.

How We Share Information

We may share information when it is reasonably necessary to operate the platform or comply with law.

• With other users when you publish listings, send messages, submit a review, or otherwise choose to share information through the marketplace.
• With the other party to a swap proposal when it proceeds to documents: your closing-contact details appear on the Letter of Intent, and your signature image and the signed Letter of Intent PDF are shared with that party.
• With vendors and service providers that help us host the platform, process payments, store data, authenticate users, or support site operations, including Stripe (payments), Amazon Web Services (hosting, storage, and email delivery), Google and Apple (sign-in and, on our native apps, in-app purchases and push notifications), and Google Maps (maps and location search).
• With OpenAI, our AI provider, to find matching listings for every listing on the platform, to match search text to listings, to screen messages and other content for safety, fraud, and policy violations, and when you use an AI-assisted feature such as the AI Trade Advisor, description generator, or price estimator. Avoid including sensitive personal information in prompts or messages you submit to these features.
• With Meta Platforms, Inc. through the Meta Pixel and the Conversions API, as described in the Meta Pixel and Conversions API section below.
• With our internal team when you submit a report about another user, listing, or message, or when your own account or content is the subject of a report, so we can review and act on it.
• With legal authorities or other parties when required to comply with applicable law, enforce our terms, or protect rights, safety, and security.
• As part of a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets if the platform or related business is reorganized or transferred.

AI-Assisted Features

GoSwap.org offers optional AI-assisted features, including the AI Trade Advisor (which explains the numbers and terms in a swap proposal and answers your questions about it), automated listing description generation, price estimates, and similar tools. These features send relevant content, such as swap proposal details, listing information, or the messages you type into the feature, to our AI provider (OpenAI) in order to generate a response.

AI Trade Advisor: when you use the advisor on a swap proposal, the figures in that proposal and the messages you type to the advisor are sent to OpenAI.

Listing tools: when you use the listing description or price tools, the listing details you have entered are sent to OpenAI.

Listing matching: the title, description, wanted items, and the first few photos of every listing are sent to OpenAI to find listings that match each other. Email addresses, phone numbers, links to other websites, and social media handles are removed from the text before it is sent.

Search: the words you type into the search box are sent to OpenAI to find listings that match their meaning.

Automated safety screening: automated systems, including OpenAI, may process the text of private messages, listings, swap proposals, and reviews for safety, fraud, and policy screening. Our filter for prohibited language runs on our own servers. Private messages that contain phrases associated with scams or unverifiable payment terms are also sent to OpenAI to decide whether to show the recipient a caution. This screening is advisory and does not by itself block a message. People at GoSwap.org do not read your messages as part of this screening, except to review content that has been flagged or reported.

Before text is sent to OpenAI, email addresses, phone numbers, and social media handles are replaced with placeholders. OpenAI processes the content we send under its API data-use terms.

The AI Trade Advisor requires your one-time acknowledgment before use. That acknowledgment is stored in your browser's local storage, not on our servers. After an initial free use, the advisor may consume account credits. AI-generated content can be inaccurate, and you should independently verify any information it provides before relying on it.

Avoid submitting sensitive personal information, such as financial account numbers or government-issued identification, into any AI-assisted feature.

AI Assistants and the GoSwap Connector

GoSwap.org offers a read-only connector that lets AI assistants, such as Claude and ChatGPT, search public listings on a person's behalf. The connector needs no sign-in. It does not know who the person asking is, and we do not receive their conversation. We only receive the search the assistant sends, such as an asset type or a state.

For active listings valued at $5,000 or more, the connector returns the title, description, photos, asset type, estimated value, what the owner is seeking, the city, state, and country, the date posted, and a link to the listing on GoSwap.org. Listings must have at least one photo and are checked for basic quality.

The connector never returns street addresses, zip codes, map coordinates, owner names or contact details, phone numbers, vehicle identification numbers, or any private account data. It cannot post, edit, or delete anything, and it cannot send messages. Links from assistants carry a tag (utm_source=mcp) so we can count visits. Anyone who follows a link is then covered by the rest of this policy. Learn more on our AI connector page at goswap.org/mcp.

Reviews and Ratings

After a swap reaches closing, both participants may leave a star rating and an optional written review about the other party. Reviews are public and displayed, together with your name or username, on the profile of the user being reviewed.

Letters of Intent and Closing Documents

When a swap proposal proceeds to documents, we collect a closing-contact profile from each party: legal name, email address, phone number, and mailing address. These details appear on the Letter of Intent and are shared with the other party.

When you sign a Letter of Intent, the signature image you draw, type, or upload and the Letter of Intent PDF we generate are stored privately with the proposal. They are shared with the other party to the proposal and are not published.

Agent, Dealer, and Broker Information

If you are an agent, dealer, or broker and indicate that you represent a client, we store the client name you enter and, if you provide it, the client's email address.

Partners may enter a license number and license state. We store them with the result of our verification check. Your license number is never shown publicly. Other members may see whether your license is marked as verified.

Swap Stories

A swap story is a public page that records that a letter of intent was signed. Swap stories can show listing photos, titles, asset types, locations at the precision shown publicly on the listing, and rounded values. Your display name, your quote, and any extra details appear only if you opt in, and no member can opt another member in. The other member's listing appears next to yours only if both members chose to share the pairing. Otherwise the story shows only that listing's asset type and rounded value.

Affiliate Program

If you use a promo or affiliate link, we record click and sign-up activity associated with that link, including an anonymous visitor identifier and IP address, so referrals can be attributed correctly. If you are an approved affiliate, we also track aggregate click and sign-up statistics tied to your affiliate links to calculate payouts.

Reporting and Blocking

You can block another user to stop seeing their listings and messages, or report a user, listing, or message that violates our rules. Reports, including your identity as the reporter, the target of the report, and any details you provide, are shared with our internal team so we can review and take appropriate action, which may include restricting or banning the reported account.

To prevent banned users from evading enforcement, we may retain device identifiers, IP addresses, and related sign-in signals associated with a banned account and use them to identify and act on related accounts.

Meta Pixel and Conversions API

On goswap.org we use the Meta Pixel, operated by Meta Platforms, Inc., to measure our advertising on Facebook and Instagram. The pixel records page views and actions such as viewing a listing (the listing's id, title, asset type, and listed value), running a search (the search text), starting a listing, and starting a checkout for credits or a subscription.

Our servers also send events to Meta through the Meta Conversions API when you complete certain actions on goswap.org: CompleteRegistration when you create an account, Lead when you send a swap proposal, Contact when you start a conversation with a listing owner, AddToWishlist when you save a listing, SubmitApplication when you create a listing, and Purchase or Subscribe with the amount you paid to GoSwap.org. These events are sent with a hashed email address, a hashed user id, your IP address, your browser user agent, and Meta click and browser identifiers (fbc and fbp). An event may include the GoSwap.org id of the listing involved. No listing or swap values are sent with these server events.

Neither the Meta Pixel nor Conversions API events are used in or sent from our native iOS and Android apps.

Sale of Personal Information

We do not sell any of your personal information such as emails, usernames, phone numbers, addresses or anything else.

Cookies and Local Storage

GoSwap.org uses cookies, browser storage, and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences (including the Trade Advisor acknowledgment), support security, and improve site functionality.

We also use optional analytics cookies (Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity) and partner promotion and advertising cookies (Microsoft Advertising / Bing UET, Meta Pixel). These load by default when you visit the website. If you decline a category in the cookie banner, through the Cookie Preferences link in the site footer, or in Account Settings → Privacy, we stop loading those tags in that browser, and when you are signed in we also stop sending server-side events to Meta for your account. A decline made after a page has loaded takes full effect on the next page load.

Our native iOS and Android apps do not use browser cookies. Instead, they use secure on-device storage for sign-in and preferences, and, where enabled, a device push notification token to deliver app notifications.

Data Retention and Security

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to operate the platform, maintain records, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and comply with legal obligations.

Signature images and signed Letter of Intent PDFs are kept privately with the swap proposal for as long as we keep the proposal record, which is as long as reasonably necessary to maintain records, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and comply with legal obligations.

License numbers, license states, and verification status are kept until you remove them or delete your account.

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Your Choices

• You can review and update certain account information through your profile or account settings.
• You may contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of personal information, subject to legal, operational, and security requirements.
• You can block other users, and report users, listings, or messages, directly from the platform.
• You can control cookies and local storage through your browser settings, and manage push notifications through your device settings.
• You can unpublish your own swap story at any time.
• You can ask us to remove your listing content from swap stories by emailing contact@goswap.org. We honor these requests within 30 days.
• You can withdraw your license number and license state at any time by removing them from your account or by contacting us.
• If you no longer want to use the platform, you may stop using it or delete your account by going to My Account → Settings → Profile → Delete Account. You can also ask us to delete it without the app. Our account deletion page explains how, and lists what is deleted and what is kept.

Children and Sensitive Transactions

GoSwap.org is not intended for minors. You must have reached the age of majority in your jurisdiction (18 in most U.S. states) and be legally able to enter into binding agreements to use the platform. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under that age, and if we learn that we have, we will delete it.

Asset transactions can involve significant financial, legal, and tax consequences. Users should consult appropriate professional advisors before completing a deal.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time by posting a revised version on the site and updating the effective date above.

Your continued use of GoSwap.org after changes are posted means you acknowledge the updated policy.
